Diane Isibor Named Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business Administration Outstanding Student at Valdosta State University

2017 Jul 28

Diane Ndidi Isibor, an international student from Delta State, Nigeria, is the recipient of Valdosta State University's 2017 Outstanding Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business Administration Senior Award.

"Receiving this award was a great honor," she said. "It was evidence that all my years of hard work finally paid off. It also proved to me that one can achieve anything despite tough circumstances."

Isibor graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance and a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting in May. She was recognized during VSU's annual Academic Honors and Awards Dinner, where she was honored by Dr. Ron Stunda, head of the Department of Accounting, and Dr. L. Wayne Plumly, dean of the Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business Administration.

The Outstanding Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business Administration Senior Award is presented to the student who has demonstrated a record of academic competence and distinguished service.

During her time as a student at VSU, Isibor regularly achieved Dean's List status, served as a university ambassador and a WileyPLUS student partner, and earned a spot in the Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honors Society and Mu Zeta chapter of Beta Alpha Psi Accounting and Finance Honors Society, where she served as treasurer. She was actively involved in the Society of International Students, where she served as vice president and treasurer; the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants; the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners; and the VSU chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants, where she served as director of plant tours and events and was featured in the organization's Campus Connection newsletter.

Isibor's commitment to academic and service excellence on campus, in the community, and around the world resulted in her earning the 2016 VSU President's Choice Scholarship, the 2016 Georgia Gulf Sulfur Scholarship, the 2016 Institute of Management Accountants Memorial Education Fund Award, the 2015 and 2016 Georgia Association of Certified Fraud Examiners Scholarship, the 2016 Ritchie Jennings Memorial Scholarship from the Association for Certified Fraud Examiners, the 2016 Accounting and Finance Women's Alliance Scholarship, the 2016 Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants Scholarship, and the Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business Administration's 2017 President's Award for Academic Excellence, which is presented to the graduating student with the highest grade point average in each of VSU's five colleges.

Isibor currently works as a financial analyst in Atlanta. Her future plans include pursuing the professional designations typical of individuals working in the accounting and finance career fields and someday returning to school to earn a Master of Business Administration degree.

"My ultimate goal is to be a leader in business," said the daughter of Eyitemi and Desmond Isibor. "The Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business Administration has been instrumental in helping me prepare to achieve this goal."
