Hayley Zapf Honored with President's Award for Academic Excellence at Valdosta State University

Hayley Zapf of Valdosta, Georgia, is the Fall 2015 President's Award for Academic Excellence recipient for the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Valdosta State University.

The President's Award for Academic Excellence is presented to the graduating student with the highest grade point average in each of VSU's five colleges.

Zapf is scheduled to receive a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, in the P.E. Complex. She will serve as the official banner carrier for the College of Nursing and Health Sciences during the commencement ceremony.

As a student at VSU, Zapf was inducted into the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the Psi Chi National Honor Society in Psychology, and the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She was a HOPE Scholar, a regular on the Dean's List, and an active member of the Valdosta Association of Nursing Students.

Zapf plans to enter the field of psychiatric-mental health nursing. Her dream job is to become a family psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner. She is the daughter of John and Shannon Zapf and the granddaughter of Brenda Taw and James Taw, a professor in VSU's Department of History. Her parents and grandparents are all VSU alumni.
