Hunter Pope Presents at 2015 Southern Regional Honors Council Conference

2015 Apr 8

Hunter Pope submitted a proposal and was selected to attend the 2015 Southern Regional Honors Council Conference, which was held at the Hyatt Regency in Greenville, South Carolina, and hosted by the Greenville Technical College Honors Program and the Clemson University Calhoun Honors College. The Remerton, Georgia, resident's podium presentation was titled "Steichen and Stieglitz: Capturing Life on Film."

Each year, the Southern Regional Honors Council invites students to submit proposals that represent excellent undergraduate work. This year's conference was built around an "Honors: Transcending Borders and Boundaries" theme. The students were asked to share academic or creative work that "celebrates the impact that international education, internships, and service learning experiences can have on both the giver and the receiver, transcending borders and boundaries, as a transformative experience," according to conference organizers.

The mission of the Southern Regional Honors Council is to promote and advance the honors programs and honors colleges in the South. The council is currently comprised of 105 member institutions from 10 states - Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
