Rebecca Rusk of Cumming, Georgia, received the 2015 James L. and Dorothy H. Dewar College of Education and Human Services Highest Academic Achievement Award at Valdosta State University.

The Dewar College of Education and Human Services prepares professionals for multiple roles in educational settings and community agencies; fosters a culture of reflective, evidence-based practice and inquiry within a diverse community of students, faculty, and staff; provides leadership in the improvement of the education, health, and well-being of citizens throughout the South Georgia region, the nation, and the world; and develops effective, responsive scholars and practitioners who use theory, research, and collaboration to enhance their work in a global, diverse, and technological society.

The Dewar College of Education and Human Services offers more than 85 bachelor's, master's, specialist, and doctoral degrees, as well as certificates and endorsements, through the Department of Adult and Career Education; Department of Art; Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders; Department of Curriculum, Leadership, and Technology; Department of Early Childhood and Special Education; Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education; Department of Library and Information Studies; Department of Marriage and Family Therapy; Department of Middle Grades, Secondary, Reading, and Deaf Education; Department of Modern and Classical Languages; Department of Music; Department of Psychology and Counseling; and Department of Social Work.
