Valdosta State University's Diane Isibor Receives IMA Memorial Education Fund Scholarship

2016 Apr 12

Diane Isibor, a junior accounting and finance major at Valdosta State University, has earned the 2015-2016 Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) Memorial Education Fund Scholarship in the amount of $2,500.

Isibor will be formally recognized at the 17th annual IMA Student Leadership Conference Nov. 10-12 in Detroit, Mich.

"I feel very honored and excited to be awarded this scholarship," said the 20-year-old from Delta State, Nigeria. "Winning this scholarship shows that the IMA supports their student members' goals in the accounting profession. It is a source of encouragement for me to keep working hard to pursue my dreams."

The Memorial Education Fund Scholarship is awarded to full- and part-time undergraduate and graduate students who have expressed the intent of pursuing a career in management accounting, financial management, or information technology. To be eligible for the award, students must be an active IMA member, enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours at a two- or four-year accredited institution, and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0.

Isibor joined VSU's chapter of the IMA in the fall 2015 and currently serves as the incoming director of plant tours and events.

As an undergraduate student at VSU, Isibor is a university ambassador, a member of the Society for International Students and the African Students Association, and a candidate of the Mu Zeta chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, an international honor organization for financial information students and professionals. She recently received an invitation to join the Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business Administration's student chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma, the premier honor society recognizing business excellence.

In her spare time, Isibor enjoys traveling and watching movies.

After graduation, she plans to pursue a Master of Accountancy and become a certified accountant, management accountant, or a fraud examiner.

IMA, the worldwide association of accountants and financial professionals working in business, is committed to helping more than 70,000 members expand their professional skills, better manage their organization, and enhance their career.
