William Haney Recognized during Valdosta State University's 2015-2016 Graduate Assistant of the Year Awards Ceremony

William Haney of Valdosta, Georgia, was named Valdosta State University's 2015-2016 Graduate Assistant of the Year. He was nominated for the award by the Department of Biology.

Every year Valdosta State University faculty, staff, and administrators recognize their top graduate assistants for the contributions they have made to the promotion of research, teaching, and service while pursuing their advanced degrees. The students are chosen based on their reliability, quality of work, initiative, professionalism, and uniqueness of contribution. A total of 29 students were nominated this year.

Graduate assistants are essential to the effective operation of Valdosta State University. They serve many roles, including supporting the delivery of quality instruction in the core curriculum through lecture and laboratory classes; supporting upper division courses that inculcate the research and inquiry skills that prepare undergraduate students to succeed in their majors; and helping to advance the research mission of the university by working alongside faculty on exciting and innovative research projects.
