Rebekah A. Foster's "The Effects of Rapid Auditory Discrimination Treatment on Articulation Improvement" won first place overall and first place in the graduate research category at the 2017 Georgia Speech-Language-Hearing Association Convention Student Poster Competition.

Seven Valdosta State University Honors College students were selected to present at the 2017 Georgia Collegiate Honors Council Conference. Hosted by Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia, this year's event was built around a "Reaching for the Stars" theme, and students were asked to share their best academic or creative work with honors students and faculty from across the state.

Ann Williams's "Connections to the Past: An Ethnographic Study of the Connection Between Modern Mayans and the Ancients" won first place for Best Paper in the Social Sciences at the 2017 Georgia Collegiate Honors Council Conference.

An elite group of 42 students, nominated by faculty in their respective academic disciplines, presented at Valdosta State University's 2016 Graduate Student Research and Scholarship Symposium.

Hayley Jackson and Sabrina Ogletree's "Visual Working Memory" won the Best Poster Award in the James L. and Dorothy H. Dewar College of Education and Human Services at the 2016 Undergraduate Research Symposium hosted by Valdosta State University.

Destiny Wilkinson's "Iris Murdoch: The Study of Good and Evil" won the Best Poster Award in the Arts and Humanities at the 2016 Undergraduate Research Symposium hosted by Valdosta State University.

Obediah Hall's "31 in a Billion: An Analysis of the Adoption of Voter ID Laws" won the Best Poster Award in the Social Sciences at the 2016 Undergraduate Research Symposium hosted by Valdosta State University.

Rebeccah Stansbery's "Effects of Training for a 439-Mile Endurance Run on Performance and Energy Balance" won the Best Poster Award in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at the 2016 Undergraduate Research Symposium hosted by Valdosta State University.

Joshua Cowger's "Computational and Solubility Studies of a New Weed Control Application Approach for the Herbicidal Agent Glyphosate" won the Economic Development Award at the 2016 Undergraduate Research Symposium hosted by Valdosta State University.

Jordan Greene's "Characterization of Cyanidin and Its Application in Solar Cells" won the Best Poster Award in the Sciences at the 2016 Undergraduate Research Symposium hosted by Valdosta State University.

Sydney Beckmann's "Mary Magdalene: Saint or Sinner?" won the Best Paper Award at the 2016 Undergraduate Research Symposium hosted by Valdosta State University.

Natalie Milko's "Teter Tiny House" won first place at the 2016 Undergraduate Research Symposium Three-Minute Video Research Competition hosted by Valdosta State University.

Valdosta State University students from the Honors College were invited to present research at the 2016 Southern Regional Honors Council Conference, which was held at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Orlando, Florida, and hosted by the University of West Florida. Inspired by The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, the theme was "The Magic of Honors."

Valdosta State University students from the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders were invited to present research at the 2016 Georgia Speech-Language-Hearing Association Annual Convention in Savannah, Georgia. The theme was "We are the Difference: Building Clinical Skills to Change Lives."

Amanda Barlow, Mara Charles, and April Ward's "Readability and its Effects on Standardized Assessment Outcomes" won first place in the undergraduate research student poster competition at the 2016 Georgia Speech-Language-Hearing Association Annual Convention.

Lauren Jacobs's "Vocalization Production in Nonverbal Children with Autism" won first place in the graduate research student poster competition at the 2016 Georgia Speech-Language-Hearing Association Annual Convention.

Kayla Lane's "Virtual Audiometry in CSD Undergraduate Training" won second place in the undergraduate research student poster competition at the 2016 Georgia Speech-Language-Hearing Association Annual Convention.
