Valdosta State University

Valdosta State University is proud to offer scholarships to 412 currently enrolled, incoming first-year, and transfer students for the 2017-2018 academic year. These scholarships were established by private donors and are awarded each year by VSU Foundation Inc. to students with excellent academic achievement and/or students with financial need. Each recipient represents the high standards of the university.

Elizabeth Deborah McCullers of Macon, Georgia, is the recipient of the Spring 2017 President's Award for Academic Excellence for the College of the Arts at Valdosta State University.

Diane Ndidi Isibor, an international student from Delta State, Nigeria, is the recipient of the Spring 2017 President's Award for Academic Excellence for the Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business Administration at Valdosta State University.

Sterling Axel Serfoss of Macon, Georgia, is the recipient of the Spring 2017 President's Award for Academic Excellence for the College of Arts and Sciences at Valdosta State University.

Miranda Rene Culbreth of Valdosta, Georgia, is the recipient of the Spring 2017 President's Award for Academic Excellence for the James L. and Dorothy H. Dewar College of Education and Human Services at Valdosta State University.

William Jayson Allen Crum of Valdosta, Georgia, is the recipient of the Spring 2017 President's Award for Academic Excellence for the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Valdosta State University.

Seven Valdosta State University Honors College students were selected to present at the 2017 Georgia Collegiate Honors Council Conference. Hosted by Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia, this year's event was built around a "Reaching for the Stars" theme, and students were asked to share their best academic or creative work with honors students and faculty from across the state.

Ann Williams's "Connections to the Past: An Ethnographic Study of the Connection Between Modern Mayans and the Ancients" won first place for Best Paper in the Social Sciences at the 2017 Georgia Collegiate Honors Council Conference.

Jacobe Love's "Loco Motives" and its investigation of gay rights and men as victims of sexual assault wowed the judges and took top prize at Valdosta State University's 2017 Take Back the Night Short Film Challenge.

The Valdosta State University Forensics (Speech and Debate) Team's Cory Howard won top honors at the Novice National Forensic Association Championship, held March 10-12 at University of West Florida in Pensacola.

The Valdosta State University Forensics (Speech and Debate) Team's Travis Edwards and Nathalie Jaimes won second place at the Georgia Parliamentary Debate Association State Championship.

Valdosta State University earned top honors at the 2017 Beta Alpha Psi Southeast Regional Meeting Best Practice Competition in Raleigh, N.C.

Valdosta State University has earned the 2015-2016 Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Superior Merit Student Chapter Award.

Christopher J. DiNofrio of Lakemont, Georgia, is the recipient of the Fall 2016 President's Award for Academic Excellence for the College of Arts and Sciences at Valdosta State University.

An elite group of 42 students, nominated by faculty in their respective academic disciplines, presented at Valdosta State University's 2016 Graduate Student Research and Scholarship Symposium.

A nine-student delegation representing Valdosta State University's Residence Hall Association recently traveled some 1,700 round-trip miles to unmask their inner super leader and represent Blazer Nation at the 2016 National Association of College and University Residence Halls Inc. Conference. The annual event was held at the University of Delaware.
