Obediah Hall's "31 in a Billion: An Analysis of the Adoption of Voter ID Laws" won the Best Poster Award in the Social Sciences at the 2016 Undergraduate Research Symposium hosted by Valdosta State University.

Valdosta State University is proud to announce its Spring 2016 Dean's List. Students who achieve a semester grade point average of 3.50 or higher on nine or more semester hours with an institutional grade point average of 3.00 or higher are recognized by being placed on the Dean's List. Developmental studies, transients, and graduate students are not eligible for Dean's List status.

Destiny Wilkinson's "Iris Murdoch: The Study of Good and Evil" won the Best Poster Award in the Arts and Humanities at the 2016 Undergraduate Research Symposium hosted by Valdosta State University.

Joshua Cowger's "Computational and Solubility Studies of a New Weed Control Application Approach for the Herbicidal Agent Glyphosate" won the Economic Development Award at the 2016 Undergraduate Research Symposium hosted by Valdosta State University.

Jordan Greene's "Characterization of Cyanidin and Its Application in Solar Cells" won the Best Poster Award in the Sciences at the 2016 Undergraduate Research Symposium hosted by Valdosta State University.

Sydney Beckmann's "Mary Magdalene: Saint or Sinner?" won the Best Paper Award at the 2016 Undergraduate Research Symposium hosted by Valdosta State University.

The College of the Arts at Valdosta State University recently recognized 22 art, music, theatre, dance, speech communication, and mass mediastudents for outstanding achievement during the 2015-2016 academic year.

Natalie Milko's "Teter Tiny House" won first place at the 2016 Undergraduate Research Symposium Three-Minute Video Research Competition hosted by Valdosta State University.

Valdosta State University is proud to offer scholarships to 303 currently enrolled, incoming first-year, and transfer students for the 2016-2017 academic year. These scholarships were established by private donors and are awarded each year by VSU Foundation Inc. to students with excellent academic achievement and/or students with financial need. Each recipient represents the high standards of the university.

Taylor Holder of Chicago, Illinois, is a recipient of Valdosta State University's 2016 Academic Athlete Award.

Two Valdosta State University students - Elyssa Whidby Tompkins and Lucy Butler-Sands - were awarded a 2015-2016 Carson and Philena T. McLane Caregivers Scholarship in the amount of $2,500.

Thomas Wright of Leesburg is a recipient of Valdosta State University's 2016 Academic Athlete Award. This is the second consecutive year he has earned this honor.

The Honors Student Association at Valdosta State University recently recognized several members for outstanding service to the organization during the 2015-2016 academic year.

Twenty-seven Valdosta State University students from Air Force Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) Detachment 172 were recognized for outstanding achievement during the 2015-2016 academic year.

Kyle Bragg of Bonaire is the recipient of Valdosta State University's 2016 Most Outstanding AS300 Cadet Award.

Hannah Pittman is Valdosta State University's 2016 Alpha Lambda Delta Freshman Honor Society Leonard Senior Book Award recipient.

Landis Johnson of Hinesville is the recipient of Valdosta State University's 2016 Sigma Alpha Chi Mac Award.

Tochukwu Madueke of Nigeria is the recipient of Valdosta State University's 2016 Marga Award.

Valdosta State University students from the Honors College were invited to present research at the 2016 Southern Regional Honors Council Conference, which was held at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Orlando, Florida, and hosted by the University of West Florida. Inspired by The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, the theme was "The Magic of Honors."

Hunter Pope's "Fetish Series" won third place in the juried art competition at the 44th annual Southern Regional Honors Council Conference. The award-winning photographs were captured on black and white film, in studio and on location, using a manual Pentax K1000 camera with a 50-millimeter (f/2.0) lens.

Alisha Duncan Burdett of Adel is the recipient of Valdosta State University's 2016 College of Education and Human Services Highest Academic Achievement Award.
